Whole and half shares of pork are sold as “live animals" and sold by their live weights at time of slaughter.
Custom cut and wrap butchers are able to process animals for owners of live animals but these cuts of meat cannot be sold on a retail market, only private.
Once you have paid the rancher, the hog is “yours” and you will pay the butcher based on hanging weight.
Delivery option available in northern San Diego county!

Pricing estimate for WHOLE hog:
- 350# Hog
- $4.00 per pound X 350# live weight = $1,750 to Ranch
- Average Hanging Weight = 70% of Live Weight
- 350# X 0.7 = 245# Hanging Weight.
- 245# X $1.60 per pound = $392 to Cliff's Meats for Cut and Wrap
- Additional $1.60 per pound for cured meats (bacon, ham) Estimate about $520 total for adding on cured bacon & hams.
- $150 Slaughter Fee
- $150 NON-REFUNDABLE Deposit for a half pork. Deposit will be deducted in the final invoice to Flying F Ranch.
Total:
- $1,400 (ranch)+ $392 to $520 (butcher) + 150 (slaughter)= $1,792 to $1,920.
This is an estimate for a 350# live weight hog. Finished live weights can range from 300#’s to 350#’s.
